Care Guide

It’s certainly tempting to wear your HotShellow pieces all the time, following these steps help to guarantee a longer life-span of your jewelry.

Protection:

  1. We recommend removing your jewelry while showering, swimming, washing dishes, engaging in sport activities.
  2. Avoid spraying perfumes or applying lotions directly to the jewelry. Even if you’re sure your jewelry hasn’t been exposed to any of the aforementioned substances, it has been in contact with your skin—which does perspire.
  3. Protect them by avoiding extreme temperatures, constant banging, scratches and harsh chemicals to minimize damage.

Cleaning:

  1. After wearing your jewelry, we recommend wiping it with a non-abrasive jewelry polishing cloth to remove dirt.
  2. It is completely natural for sterling silver to oxidize/patina over time when it’s exposed to air. Use a polishing cloth to give the piece a gentle wipe and it will shine right back up!
  3. To fully remove tarnish and any stains on your sterling silver jewelry, we recommend using silver polish or jewelry polish. Be sure to follow the instructions and wear gloves.
  4. You may also use a non-abrasive cloth to lightly polish your gold vermeil pieces, if needed.
  5. Gemstones should be cleaned using an untreated, dry, soft cloth. No paper towels, they can cause scratching.

Storage:

Always pack your jewelry with care

  1. Many of our pieces are made with natural semi-precious stones, zircon, real sea shells and freshwater pearls which are delicate in nature. Protect them by individually storing each piece in a pouch or soft material to help avoid breakage, scratching or tangling.
  2. As with all Sterling Silver, Gold Vermeil Jewelry, proper care is essential. we recommend storing it in a sealed bag when you are not wearing your jewelry.
